Lately, we've perceived an increasing interest from our authors to publish and exploit their own contributions in our journals in immediate Open Access. In times of shrinking library budgets, which are often blocked by very expensive natural sciences journals, and increasing pressure from science policy on publishers and academics, Open Access is an important option for the authors of our journals and for us as a publisher in the social and educational sciences.

The benefits of Open Access for you as an author are obvious:
» immediate accessibility worldwide (even when out of print)
» free access for readers
» legally compliant dissemination via digital platforms and Open Access repositories

» Open Express
In order to be able to offer this option in addition, we developed our Open Express offer some time ago, with which we can release the print version of single articles of a journal issue for a one-time payment before the expiry of the (usually existing 24-month) embargo period for Open Access at the request of authors and with publication or time delays.

There are two options:
a) Open Access within the first year after publication: 799,00 EUR (incl. VAT) per article
b) Open Access twelve months after publication: 199,00 EUR (incl. VAT) per article

The Open Access fees incurred may be covered by your institution. An overview of the Open Access representatives of German universities and research institutions can be found here.

You are allowed to upload the preprint version/original manuscript version (submitted version prior to peer review process) of your scholarly article to digital platforms, your personal website or the website of your institute, and/or deposit it in repositories at any time after the initial publication at Verlag Barbara Budrich.
