Getting close to the Government. Anthropology in Military and Intelligence Operations

Abstract
In the past, anthropologists enthusiastically contributed their expertise to military and intelligence operations. But the U.S. military’s recent attempt to recruit anthropologists for the ‘War on Terror’ has been met with opposition. Tracing the reasons for this transformation in anthropologists’ attitudes, particularly the development of professional ethics, can help to gain an understanding of this opposition.
