Caspar van den Berg is Professor of Public Administration at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands). His research interests include comparative public administration, civil service politicization, policy advisory systems, regional governance and centre-periphery relations. His work has been published in the international top journals including JPART, PAR, Governance and Public  Administration. His latest book, Policy consultancy in comparative perspective came out with Cambridge University Press in 2020. Caspar was a visiting research fellow at Princeton University in 2013-2014 and a visiting professor at the Tallinn university of Technology in 2004-2015. He received his PhD in Public Administration from Leiden University in 2011, for which he received the prestigious Van Poelje Annual Prize for best dissertation in the administrative and policy sciences in the Netherlands and Flanders. In 2019 the Dutch Council of Ministers appointed him as a member of the Council for Public Administration, which advises directly to Parliament and Government on the organization and functioning of the public sector.
