Ethische oder politische Anliegen nebenbei, beim täglichen Einkauf (mit-)zuverfolgen, gilt als niederschwellige Beteiligungsform. Doch ist der gelegentliche Kauf von Bio-Produkten mit anderen Formen politischer Beteiligung gleichzusetzen? Der ethnographische Blick auf den Alltag politischer Verbraucherinnen und Verbraucher zeigt, dass das Konzept eines nur marktvermittelten politischen Konsums zu kurz greift.

Consumption as political practice? Transforming everyday life as a challenge and an opportunity

Abstract

Ethical or political concerns, incidentally, to pursue in daily shopping, is considered a lowthreshold form of participation. But is the occasional purchase of organic products to be equated with other forms of political participation? The ethnographic view of the everyday life of political consumers shows that the concept of only market-mediated political consumption does not go far enough.
