Abstract
Violence Prevention in Amateur Football (A Project in the Fußballkreis Dortmund)
This article examines violence in amateur football as assaults or threats around matches and in touchline situations. It links the issue to organisational trends, showing how emotions, status conflicts and roles among players, coaches, spectators and officials can drive escalation. It summarises findings and DFB tools (reporting categories, the captain’s rule, the STOPP concept). Prevention is classified from primary to tertiary and connected to social work’s micro-, meso- and macro-levels. The core case is Dortmund’s working group on violence prevention: all disciplinary cases enter a points system that identifies, each halfseason, the five most conspicuous clubs. In structured sessions with club boards, causes are analysed, SMART goals set, and tailored measures agreed, supported and monitored. The article concludes with limits, workload and evaluation needs, while stressing its innovation: shared club responsibility instead of a narrow focus on perpetrators. The Dortmund model blends data, counselling and training for sustainable cultural change.
