dms - der moderne staat - Zeitschrift für Public Policy, Recht und Management is the interdisciplinary academic journal in the German-speaking world that focuses on the state, public administration, and public policy.

dms sees itself as an academic forum for critical and constructive reflection on the preconditions, functioning and consequences of state action. Substantial and innovative research results from various disciplines are presented in dms. In addition to methodologically reflective and theoretically sound empirical research, conceptual and theoretical contributions are also published in German and English.

The journal was founded in 2008 and is published twice a year with a volume of approx. 480 pages per year.
