Vincent und die „Apotheke“ – oder: die Didaktik des Materials

Der vorliegende Beitrag nimmt, unter Rückgriff auf den aktuellen Diskurs um die Materialität des Lernens und die „Dinge des Wissens“, ein didaktisches Material aus dezentriertem, individualisiertem Grundschulunterricht unter die Lupe. Zunächst wird die Funktionsweise und -logik der „Apotheke“, eines zentralen Mathematikmaterials aus der Pädagogik Maria Montessoris, beschrieben, um anschließend die konkrete und situative Benutzung dieses komplexen Ensembles an Objekten durch einen Schüler zu analysieren. Dabei herausgearbeitete didaktische Zweifel werden schließlich mit Blick auf ‚pädagogische‘ Qualitäten und die Organisationsform des untersuchten Unterrichts diskutiert.

Abstract

Vincent and the “pharmacy” – or: material didactics Referring to the contemporary discourse around „the materiality of learning“, the paper examines a didactical material found in decentralised, child-centred elementary teaching. First the functionality and logic of the „pharmacy“, a central learning advice in mathematical Montessori education, is described. Then its concrete and situational utilisation by a pupil is analysed. Doubtful didactical implications are elaborated and eventually related to the pedagogics and organisation of the specific educational setting.
