Vergessene Pionierinnen? Die Ausstellung Künstlerinnen international 1877–1977 als historiografische Intervention und Inspiration

Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag befragt die Ausstellung Künstlerinnen international 1877–1977 als historiografische Intervention. Die kontroverse Rezeption der Ausstellung um 1977 wird skizziert und mit ihrer zurückhaltenden Erinnerung in der Gegenwart kontrastiert. Agnotologie wird als produktives Instrumentarium für das Erforschen dieser erinnerungspolitischen Marginalisierung entfaltet. Die „Erinnerungsresistenz“ der Schau in ihrer Destabilisierung zentraler Ordnungskategorien verortend und diese als verbreitetes Spezifikum feministischer Agitationen ausweisend, wird abschließend eine anachronistisch verfahrende feministische Historiografie als Ausweg aus solch tradierter Traditionslosigkeit vorgestellt.

Forgotten pioneers? The “Künstlerinnen international 1877–1977” exhibition as historiographical intervention and inspiration

Summary

This article investigates the “Künstlerinnen international 1877–1977” exhibition as a historiographical intervention. The exhibition’s controversial reception around 1977 is outlined and contrasted with its restrained remembrance in the present. Agnotology is used as a productive perspective for exploring this discursive marginalization. By identifying the show’s “resistance to remembrance” in its destabilization of central categories of order and by showing this to be a widespread feature of feminist agitation, the article concludes by presenting an anachronistically informed feminist historiography as a way out of such a traditional lack of tradition.
