Confronting the logic of obstruction – Restorative intersectional anti-discrimination policies in HEI committees. Corpo-affectivespatial considerations
This article examines the everyday experiences of intersectionally positioned students and lecturers. It explores the spatial-affective dynamics in the shaping of intersectional anti-discrimination policies within university governance bodies and the need for transformation within institutional culture in higher education. The difficulties these actors face in academic committees are addressed. Instead of encountering an institutional culture of support, they are confronted with a logic of obstruction. The lack of recognition of these actors as competent, fully-fledged members of the institution leads to the undermining of their conceptual and organizational work. Therefore, anti-discrimination policies must be conceptualized within the framework of restorative intersectional justice that is grounded in both human rights and communal relationship-building.
