Die Einstellung von Mädchen zu den MINT-Fächern in der Primarstufe und Sekundarstufe I – Darstellung des aktuellen Forschungsstandes und Identifikation von Förderstrategien

Abstract
Girls’ attitude toward STEM at primary and lower secondary level – Overview of the current state of research and identification of potential supportive strategies
Currently, women make up only 16.3 percent of the STEM workforce. Research suggests a connection between attitudes towards STEM and later career choices, indicating that fostering positive STEM attitudes among girls could encourage more women to pursue careers in these fields. Some researchers advocate for encouraging girls from an early age, which leads to an examination of whether gender-specific differences in STEM attitudes exist at primary and lower secondary school levels and how girls’ STEM attitudes can be nurtured. To explore this issue, a systematic literature review was conducted. The review included 55 studies, which revealed that the STEM attitudes of female students tend to decline during middle school. Additionally, five effective strategies for promoting girls’ STEM attitudes were identified. The findings and potential avenues for further research are discussed in this article.
