Bildungsteilhabe junger Geflüchteter: Verteilte Praxen des Ankommens in digitalisierten Bildungsarrangements

Abstract
Educational Participation of Young Refugees: Distributed Practices of Arrival in Digitalized Educational Arrangements
Based on an ethnographic study, this article reconstructs the relevance of digital media for young refugees’ arrival and educational participation. Three practices involving making sense of language, writing application documents and creative self-expression are used as examples to identify forms of coping, appropriation, mediation and positioning within self- and world-relations that have transformative meaning in the context of forced migration. The potentials of digital media unfold in practices through a complex, distributed interplay between the various participants – actors, (digital) artefacts and institutional contexts. In particular, the resource-expanding role of child and youth welfare becomes clear: Beyond providing digital equipment, these contexts create educational occasions in which young refugees can develop options for action with digital media to cope with and shape everyday life in the host society.
